What Jesus did with a towel and basin, and what it means for how we serve.
Jesus and his disciples gathered for the Passover meal. Partway through, Jesus got up, wrapped a towel around his waist, and washed their feet. No servant was mentioned, and this happened after the meal started. Peter protested. Jesus said he was redefining greatness: in his kingdom, the leader serves. Then he told them to do the same.
The story gives children a picture for something they already feel: helping feels good. A child who washes a doll's feet and then dries them is practicing a sequence — notice, kneel, serve, finish. At home you may see your child carry their plate to the sink or bring you a pair of socks. Small hands, real work.
