How we see children
Thirty years ago, a group of families left the comfort and security of several established churches around Atlanta to launch a new church. That same spirit still shapes the rooms children walk into here. Waumba Land serves children from six weeks through Pre-K. UpStreet is for kindergarten through fifth grade. Each age gets its own space, its own pace.
Guest Services volunteers are often the first smile and the last goodbye on a Sunday. In the Waumba Land and UpStreet rooms, that same steady presence carries through the hour. Children move through activities with familiar faces nearby, and small groups give them room to talk, listen, and take part. Volunteers help make a big church feel like home for every child.

What you notice in practice
Our Guest Services volunteers are often the first smile and the last goodbye on a Sunday. Teachers and volunteers greet each child by name and get down to their level to talk. Small groups keep the circle tight so every child has a turn to speak and be heard.
Rooms are set up for the ages in them, with space to move and space to sit together. Waumba Land welcomes children from six weeks through Pre-K, and UpStreet serves kindergarten through fifth grade, so the day is paced to fit the group in front of you. How we work with families
At pickup, parents hear the small headlines of the day: who tried a new snack, who built a tower taller than themselves, who needed an extra hug. If something bigger comes up, a teacher will tell you directly rather than send you home guessing. Questions that come up at the door or in the hallway are welcome. Ask a teacher, and we will find the answer.
Starting somewhere new takes time, for the child and for you. Parents can find resources and connect with other parents who have been through the same first weeks.
