The Old Testament has 39 books of law, history, poetry, and prophets. The New Testament has 27 books, starting with the four Gospels. Genesis to Revelation points to God's character and plan.

What this looks like in practice

Over time, children start to place stories in order and notice that they connect. A child may retell a story at dinner or ask why a person acted as they did. That is the habit of reading for meaning.
